Bennett challenges his audience , by attacking intellectuals. However Bennett tries to win over his audience of intellectuals in two ways: by calling upon their talents and by attacking on the arguments of intellectuals who favor legalizing drugs. .He shows an understanding of others’ viewpoints by addressing points of opposition several times during the article. Archeologists to this day are discovering old beer mug containers from the B. C period. Some other archeologist and a few scientists believe it was created in an experimental accident. Like most failed experiments alcohol was soon to be one of the most popular drinks in America.Not only was it going to impact America it impacted the whole world. Everyone would you alcohol in many different ways medicinal purposes, in South America and in the Middle East. They would use it for celebrations any type of celebration and it would be used in sacrifices or offering rituals too. As alcohol caught on people realized what a problem it could be. In 1919 a majority of states ratified the eighteen amendment to the constitution, which states: â€Å"After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within the importation thereof into, or the exportation hereof from the U. S and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is here by prohibited† (Adam Wong03). This banishment, called Prohibition, went into effect in 1920: it was accompanied by the† Volstead Act† (Clayton rivers94), congressional legislation that provided specific rules for enforcing the ban. So for the next 13 years prohibition remained in place, President Calvin Coolidge called it â€Å"the greatest social experiment of modern times† (President Calvin Coolidge). Prohibition in the 1920sAlthough Prohibition continued until 1933 it remains most closely associated with the 1920. in the 1920s â€Å"it was a colorful period in history† (Adam Wong03) bracketed on both ends by tragedy and misfortune. At the start of the twenties, America was just recovering from the devastation and deprivation of World War 1. At the decade’s end the stock market crashed of 1929 which then fell into the great depression and years of hardship. Then in between the 1920s it was a time of unusual prosperity, the economy seemed to be on an endless climb.That no one can believe, it was a type of miracle people had enough money to buy amazing new devices like radios, refrigerators and washing machines. Even the poorest family of the towns and states were able to afford a car, it was also an era of significant social change and great fun, â€Å"it was so fun that it was nicknamed the roaring twenties† and the â€Å"Jazz Age† (Adam Wong03). Everyone was relived and could relax after all the harsh full events that America had went through that now they were ab le to kick back and relax.People would listen to the radio dance in the nightclubs and saw â€Å"talkies† (which are present day movies) everyone was just happy to have their freedom back. Although the 1920s was a fun-loving atmosphere the people would still have to sustain the ban of liquor. But finally the anti alcohol forces succeeded and they were able to get across the eighteenth amendment and the Volstead act. The advocates who wrote and backed these new laws assumed that a majority of Americans would go along with it. They thought that even though you didn’t like the new law you would have to follow it because it was law of the land.But nonetheless law abiding citizens were still able to secretly drink liquor and beer by home brewing it. These illegal drinking parlors were called â€Å"speakeasies† (Adam Wong03). Criminal gangs and known thieves would smuggle the liquor and beer and they made a fortune each one of these â€Å"speakeasies† had their own little illegal organization by selling the illegal liquor. The law enforcement like nowadays would be corrupted by these small organizations with either money or liquor as a bribe and so there wasn’t really a stop to these guys.Prohibition Gone the Right to Drink Prohibition affected millions of Americans but it even went into deeper meaning than just not being able to drink, it touched onto a fundamental issue in American life. The conflict over liquor was a long hard-fought battle. But in the end everyone had their right to drink. I chose to write about my own childhood. My story started when I was born on October 15, 1988 in Jacksonville, North Carolina to a then family of three Richard, Dana, and Karen. I was the second born and my sister was 3 and a half years old. I was born into a military family so I grew up in a few different locations. The month after I was born my family relocated from North Carolina to sunny Twenty-nine palms, California. My family lived there until I was about 5 years old until my father got a new duty assignment to Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania as a Marine recruiter. This is the place that I claim as my hometown as I lived there until I turned 18 and joined the US Air Force. My childhood was a very â€Å"normal†. I had problems with speech and pronunciation as well as paying attention. There was even the thought I may have had a le arning disability or disorder. My parents were very reluctant to just accept these diagnosis’s as they were given by teachers and not medical specialists. So as a course of action until I could see doctors and take aptitude tests, everyone decided that I needed to start receiving some individualized attention from teachers. That was the exact moment where I thought why am I not with everyone else. Why am I different? I remember the first few weeks of those isolated sessions I felt worthless and began acting out. I was only doing so because at that age all I wanted to do was fit it. It hurt that at that time no one could even tell me why I was there. It was strictly a guess for them to segregate me from my peers. That led me to getting what felt like a thousand different learning exams, evaluations, and learning sessions. Much to my teachers surprise there was nothing mentally wrong with the way I was learning. According to the tests it seemed I was just not being academically challenged. The doctors explained it was just my way of dealing with my boredom. I felt that the entire situation of â€Å"having something wrong with me† stereotypes were a big influence to everyone involved. They aim at keeping their costs low , raise the efficiency of production and keep various options open. Samsung mad various research labs, improvement in technologies, collaboration with other companies, and use of advantageous cost effective techniques, to lower their cost of production. they designed a better process of the delivery system. at first, Samsung modified the product creation process. the company had lack of interaction with the engineers, marketers ad the designer of the company. Samsung has planned to provide their customers with real benefits. they launched hybrid products with the combination facilities of two products together into one, that would help in providing the customers with the best facilities in one product. this strategy is completely related to the theories of Richard Whittington. following the evolutionist theoretical strategies Samsung aims at achieving the profitability and stability in their approaches. With their powerless performance many years back, Samsung had to implement various strategies which could help in providing them with an approach to change their current scenario. This was only possible by providing an innovation to the company. Focussing on quality rather than quantity was one of the most important approach for the organization. By implementing the design strategy , Samsung has helped itself in raising the standards of the company, thereby focussing in attaining stability in the market. The strategies framed by the company is relatable to the theories stated by Richard Whittington. These strategies have created the current image of the company, which has exceeded its competitors and raised its par with respect to market share, profit margin and productivity.
